CoreWeb Inc. Graphic Design Firm Wins $15,000 National Grant from Sappi Fine Paper North America to Create Communications Campaign for Worthy Local CauseGraceful Stitches Non-Profit is the Real BenefactorMedfield, MA – August 28, 2004 – CoreWeb Inc. Design, announced today that they were one of 18 national winners awarded a grant from Sappi Fine Paper North America for its winning entry in the Sappi 2004 “Ideas That Matter” (ITM) competition.
The Sappi global ITM competition finances the best creative communications proposals submitted by graphic design firms, advertising agencies or college design students, who volunteer their time, energy and talent to partner with non-profit organizations that are in need of public education print campaigns.
CoreWeb Inc. Design submitted a print campaign for Graceful Stitches to help them create awareness for programs that assist volunteers through development and sales of knitting kits and supplies. All profits are donated to cancer-related causes.
“This is a fantastic program,” said Mary Ellen Slater, Graphic Designer, CoreWeb Inc. “Our pro-bono design commitment, coupled with print and production funding from Sappi, allow us to produce first-rate public communications campaigns for non-profit organizations like Graceful Stitches that otherwise could not afford it. We are proud to be a very small part of such a great organization”
The CoreWeb Inc Design entry was selected by an independent panel of designers, public service professionals and business strategists. Over 180 entries were submitted nationally and judged for innovative use of design; practically and potential effectiveness of the campaign; and the credentials of the non-profit organization.
“Sappi is proud to be associated with such a strong commitment of giving and support for organizations, which rely heavily on print communications to deliver their community messages of hope, caring and benefit,” said Joe Isaak, Manager, Marketing Communications Sappi Fine Paper, North America.
This year, Sappi Fine Paper donated a total of $1million dollars on a global level to 32 graphic design recipients world-wide. The designers received a variety of funding levels based on their campaign proposals. Globally, over 550 entries were received from 21 countries.
